About State of Tamil Nadu
For centuries, the Chola, Chera, and Pandya dynasties ruled over the southern regions of India. From roughly the second quarter of the fourth century A.D., the Pallavas ruled supremely. The renowned Dravidian style of temple architecture was created by them. Aparajita was the final Pallava king, and it was during her rule that the later Cholas, led by Vijayalaya and Aditya, came to power by the tenth century or so.
Several dynasties, including the Chalukya, Chola, and Pandya dynasties, ruled over Tamil Nadu at the end of the 11th century. Over the next two centuries, South India came under the dominance of the Chola dynasty.
One of the earliest British settlements in India was Tamil Nadu. The old Madras Presidency, which in 1901 encompassed the majority of the southern peninsula, was replaced by the State. Afterwards, the composite Madras State was reorganized, giving rise to the current Tamil Nadu. The Indian Ocean borders Tamil Nadu on the south, the Bay of Bengal on the east, Kerala on the west, and Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka on the north.
Currently production plants have been started by global auto majors Hyundai Motors, Ford, Hindustan Motors, and Mitsubishi. Chennai is now home to expansion plants for TAFE and Ashok Leyland.
The state’s primary mineral resources are limestone, lignite, and granite. The state is a major exporter of black granite, handicrafts, tea, coffee, spices, engineering goods, tanned skin and leather goods, yarn, and spices. Sixty percent of India’s tannery industry comes from Tamil Nadu.
