CENTRAL TEACHER ELIGIBILITY TEST- 2024

About CENTRAL TEACHER ELIGIBILITY TEST- 2024

The Central Teacher Eligibility Test is referred to as CTET. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) regularly administers the CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) twice. The National Council for Teacher Education’s (NCTE) regulations set the requirements for the CTET qualification. It is important that candidates are aware of the qualifying requirements for the CTET 2024 exam prior to taking the test.

What are the functions of CBSE ?

A series of events document the major transformations that led to the Board’s current configuration over time. Founded in 1921, the U P Board of High School and Intermediate Education was the first board. It possesses Rajputana, Central India, and Gwalior under its jurisdiction. The then-Indian government proposed creating a joint board in 1929 for all the regions, called the “Board of High School and Intermediate Education, Rajputana,” in response to the United Provinces government’s representation. Ajmer, Merwara, Central India, and Gwalior were among them.

Beyond the geographical borders of the country, the Board has broad jurisdiction. The Central Board and the former “Delhi Board of Secondary Education” amalgamated as a result of the reconstitution, incorporating all of the educational establishments that the Delhi Board had previously approved. Following that, every school in the Chandigarh Union Territory. Arunachal Pradesh, the state of Sikkim, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and, as of late, Jharkhand, Uttaranchal, and Chhattisgarh have also become affiliated with the Board.

The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), by Notification dated August 23, 2010, subsequently amended from time to time, has set the minimum qualifications for an individual to be eligible for an appointment as a teacher for classes I through VIII.

This is in accordance with the provisions of sub-section (1) of Section 23 of the RTE Act. It was stipulated, among other things, that passing the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), which will be administered by the relevant Government in compliance with the Guidelines established by the NCTE, is one of the prerequisites for a person to be eligible for appointment as a teacher in any of the educational institutions mentioned in Clause (n) of Section 2 of the RTE Act.

The following justifies making the TET a prerequisite for teaching appointments: i. It would set national standards and benchmarks for teacher quality in the hiring process; ii. It would encourage teacher education institutions and their students to further raise the bar on their performance standards; iii. It would send a clear message to all parties involved that the government places a high priority on teacher quality.

The Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi, has been given the authority to administer the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

What is the Eligibility Criteria for CTET 2024 ?

The following requirements should be met as a minimum by the teaching staff:

  • Regulations as amended and notified from time to time by the National Council for Teacher Education (Determination of Minimum Qualifications for Persons to be Recruited as Education Teachers and Physical Education Teachers in Pre-Primary, Primary, UpperPrimary, Secondary, Senior Secondary or Intermediate Schools or Colleges).
  • The minimal qualifications outlined in the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangthan or Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti recruitment rules, or in the recruitment rules for teachers issued by the relevant government in the school’s location.
  • The candidate must meet all eligibility requirements before submitting an application; if this is not the case, he or she will be held personally liable.
